8. 9. Ovo su imena njihovih poglavara: Samjaza, koji im bijese vođa, Urakabarameel, Akibeel, Tamiel, Ramuel, Danel, Anane, Zavebe, Samsaveel, Ertael, Turel, Jomjael, Arazjal. To bijahu poglavari dvjesto anđela, a svi bijahu s njima. 10. Potom svaki izabere i uze ženu, kojoj se približi i s njom nastani; podučavahu ih vradžbinama, zazivima, i razlikovanju korijenja i drveća. 11. Žene potom začnu i rode divove. 12. I svaki bijaše visok 300 lakata. 15. Tada zemlja prezre nepravedne.

"And the giants turned themselves against mankind in order to devour them. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones."

I počiniše grijeh nad pticama i zvijerima i gmazovima i ribama, i onda počeše proždirati jedan drugom meso i piti krv. I tada je zemlja iznjela optužbe protiv tih bezakonika."

VIII POGLAVLJE

1. Azaziel je, štoviše, podučio ljude izradi mačeva, noževa, štitova, oklopa, izradi zrcala, uporabi boje, uljepšavanju obrva, uporabi svakovrsnog dragog i probranog kamenja i svim vrstama boja, te bijaše svijet izmijenjen. 2. 3. Amazarak je podučio sve vračeve i djelitelje korijenja; 4. Armers je podučavao razrješavanje vradžbina; 5. Barkajal je podučavao promatrače zvijezda; 6. Akibeel je podučavao o znakovima; 7. Tamiel je podučavao astronomiju; 8. A Asaradel je podučavao kretanje mjeseca. 9. A ljudi, budući uništeni, plakahu; njihov glas odjeknu do nebesa.

IX POGLAVLJE

4. I otkriše im zločine. 8. I žene su rodile divove. 9. 10. Gledajte sada duše mrtvih koje plaču. 11. I kukaju sve do nebeskih vrata. 12.

X POGLAVLJE

1. Tada progovori Svevišnji, Veliki Svet, 2. I posla Arsajalaljura sinu Lamekovu 3. govoreći: " Reci mu u moje ime: ´Sakrij se´ 4. Potom mu objasni kako će se uništenje dogoditi; jer sva će zemlja nestati; vode potopa preplavit će čitavu zemlju, i sve stvari na njoj bit će uništene. 5. Gospodin također kaza Rafaelu: " Sveži Azazjelove ruke i noge; baci ga u tamu; i, otvorivši pustinju u Dudaelu, i ondje ga baci. 7. 10. Obnovi zemlju, koju anđeli pokvariše; i navijesti joj život, kako bih ju mogao oživjeti. 11. Svi ljudski sinovi neće iščeznuti poradi svaki tajne, kojima su ih Stražari uništili, i o kojima su podučavali svoje potomke. 12. Sva zemlja pokvarena zbog Azazjelova nauka. Stoga, njemu pripiši sav zločin." 13. I Gabrijelu Gospodin reče: " Idi okrutnima, pokvarenima, djeci bluda; i uništi odjeću bluda, potomke Stražara, koji su među ljudima; pronađi ih i nahuškaj jedne protiv drugih. Neka iščeznu u međusobnom pokolju; jer, trajanje dana neće biti njihovo. 14. 16. Tada će oni biti odvedeni u najdublje dubine ognja u mukama; i u zatočeništvu će ostati zauvijek zatvoreni. 17. 18. Uništi sve duše ogrezle u lijenosti, i potomke Stražara, jer, oni su zlostavljali čovječanstvo. 19. Neka svaki tlačitelj iščezne s lica zemlje; 20. Neka svako zlodjelo bude uništeno; 21. Neka se pojavi cvijet pravednosti i ispravnosti, a njegov plod neka postane blagoslov. 22. Pravednost i ispravnost će zauvijek biti ispunjene zadovoljstvom. 23. 26. Tada će sva djeca od roda ljudskoga biti pravedna, a svi će mi narodi odavati božanske počasti i blagoslivljati me; i svi će me obožavati. 27.

2. U svoje dane on bijaše posve obuzet svetima i Stražarima. 3. Ja, Henoh, blagoslivljao sam Gospodina i Kralja mira. 4. I, gle, Stražari me nazvaše Henokom piscem. 5.

XIII POGLAVLJE

1. Nadalje, Henok kaza Azazjelu " Ti nećeš imati mira. Velika kazna protiv tebe izrečena je. On će te svezati; 2. I zbog svakog Bogohulnog čina, tlačenja i grijeha koje si otkrio ljudskoj djeci." 4. Potom sam, odlazeći od njega svima govorio; 5. I sve ih obuze strah i zadrhtaše; 6. 9. I dođe mi san, i nada mnom se pojaviše viđenja. Pao sam i vidio kaznu, o kojoj sam trebao izvijestiti sinove neba i ukoriti ih.

2. I razumijevati srcem. Nego ćete u tišini plakati i preklinjati. Rijeci knjige koju ja napisah 8. I pokaze mi se viđenje. 9. I gle, u tom viđenju pozvaše me oblaci i magla; nemirne zvijezde i bljeskovi munja privukoše me i tjeraše naprijed dok su vjetrovi u viđenju pomagali moj let, ubrzavajući ga. 10. Oni me podigoše do nebesa. Nastavio sam, sve dok nisam stigao do zida izgrađenoga od kamenja od kristala. Okruživao ga je titrajući plamen koji me ispuni jezom. 11. I uđoh u taj titrajući plamen; 12. Obuze me strah i jezivo drhtanje. 13. Strasno uznemiren, dršćući sam pao na lice. U viđenju ugledah, 14. Još jedno prebivalište prostranije od prethodnoga čiji mi svaki ulaz bijaše otvoren, uzdignut usred treptavoga plamena. 15. On bijaše toliko sjajan, veličanstven i golem, da je nemoguće opisati njegovu raskoš i veličinu. 16. 20. Bijaše ne moguće gledati ga. 21. Na njemu je sjedila velika slava: 22. Čija haljina bijaše sjajnija od sunca, i bijelja od snijega. 23. Ni jedan anđeo nije mogao prodrijeti do lica Njegova, Slavnoga i Blistavoga; niti Ga je ijedan smrtnik mogao gledati. Oko Njega bijaše oganj. 24. Tada me Gospodin vlastitim ustima pozva govoreći: " Pristupi ovamo Henoče na moju svetu riječ." 25. I On me podigne, privukavši me čak blizu ulaza. Oko mi je bijaše uprto u tlo,

XV POGLAVLJE

4. Ovi, međutim, umiru i nastaju. 5. 9. Duhovi divova bit će poput oblaka, koji će tlačiti, krvariti, zaposjedati, ratovati i ranjavati zemlju. 10. Oni će prouzročiti očaj. Neće jesti hranu; bit će žedni; bit će skriveni, te neće ustati protiv sinova ljudskih i protiv žena; jer, oni će doći pokolja i uništenja.

XVI POGLAVLJE

Uništenje će stići Stražare i bezbožne. 2.

LXIX POGLAVLJE

And the fifth is named Kasdeja; he has taught the sons of men all the wicked beatings of the spirits and the demons, the beatings of the birth in the womb, that is (i.e. the birth) fall, and the beatings of the soul, the bites of the serpent, and the beatings which take place et noon, the son of the serpent whose name is Tabat.

LXIX POGLAVLJE

And the fifth was named Kâsdejâ: this is he who showed the children of men all the wicked smitings of spirits and demons, and the smitings of the embryo in the womb, that it may pass away, and [the smitings of the soul] the bites of the serpent, and the smitings which befall through the noontide heat, the son of the serpent named Tabââ‘ĕt.

The Book of Jubilees

21 from fornication and uncleanness and all iniquity. For owing to these three things came the flood upon the earth, namely, owing to the fornication wherein the Watchers against the law of their ordinances went a whoring after the daughters of men, and took themselves wives of all which they
22 chose: and they made the beginning of uncleanness. And they begat sons the Naphidim, and they were all unlike, and they devoured one another: and the Giants slew the Naphil (Naphelim), and the
23 Naphil slew the Eljo (Elioud), and the Eljo mankind, and one man another. And every one sold himself
24 to work iniquity and to shed much blood, and the earth was filled with iniquity. And after this they sinned against the beasts and birds, and all that moves and walks on the earth: and much blood was shed on the earth, and every imagination and desire of men imagined vanity and evil
25 continually. And the Lord destroyed everything from off the face of the earth; because of the wickedness of their deeds, and because of the blood which they had shed in the midst of the earth 26 He destroyed everything. 'And we were left, I and you, my sons, and everything that entered with us into the ark, and behold I see your works before me that ye do not walk in righteousness: for in the path of destruction ye have begun to walk, and ye are parting one from another, and are envious one of another, and (so it comes) that ye are not in harmony, my sons, each with his brother.
27 For I see, and behold the demons have begun (their) seductions against you and against your children and now I fear on your behalf, that after my death ye will shed the blood of men upon the earth,
28 and that ye, too, will be destroyed from the face of the earth. For whoso sheddeth man's blood, and whoso eateth the blood of any flesh, shall all be destroyed from the earth.
29 And there shall not be left any man that eateth blood, or that sheddeth the blood of man on the earth, Nor shall there be left to him any seed or descendants living under heaven; For into Sheol shall they go, And into the place of condemnation shall they descend, And into the darkness of the deep shall they all be removed by a violent death.
30 There shall be no blood seen upon you of all the blood there shall be all the days in which ye have killed any beasts or cattle or whatever flies upon the earth, and work ye a good work to your
31 souls by covering that which has been shed on the face of the earth. And ye shall not be like him who eats with blood, but guard yourselves that none may eat blood before you: cover the blood,
32 for thus have I been commanded to testify to you and your children, together with all flesh. And suffer not the soul to be eaten with the flesh, that your blood, which is your life, may not be required
33 at the hand of any flesh that sheds (it) on the earth. For the earth will not be clean from the blood which has been shed upon it; for (only) through the blood of him that shed it will the earth be 34 purified throughout all its generations.

Sinovi Božji i kćeri ljudske

Također nazvani i HaGibborim - oni močni/silni/ogromni.
  • Gigantes (Septuagint) - Gigas, rođeni na zemlji

Tko su Sinovi Božji iz Knjige Postanka?

Book of Jasher, Chapter 4

1 And all the days that Enoch lived upon earth, were three hundred and sixty-five years.

2 And when Enoch had ascended into heaven, all the kings of the earth rose and took Methuselah his son and anointed him, and they caused him to reign over them in the place of his father.

3 And Methuselah acted uprightly in the sight of God, as his father Enoch had taught him, and he likewise during the whole of his life taught the sons of men wisdom, knowledge and the fear of God, and he did not turn from the good way either to the right or to the left.

4 But in the latter days of Methuselah, the sons of men turned from the Lord, they corrupted the earth, they robbed and plundered each other, and they rebelled against God and they transgressed, and they corrupted their ways, and would not hearken to the voice of Methuselah, but rebelled against him.

5 And the Lord was exceedingly wroth against them, and the Lord continued to destroy the seed in those days, so that there was neither sowing nor reaping in the earth.

6 For when they sowed the ground in order that they might obtain food for their support, behold, thorns and thistles were produced which they did not sow.

7 And still the sons of men did not turn from their evil ways, and their hands were still extended to do evil in the sight of God, and they provoked the Lord with their evil ways, and the Lord was very wroth, and repented that he had made man.

8 And he thought to destroy and annihilate them and he did so.

9 In those days when Lamech the son of Methuselah was one hundred and sixty years old, Seth the son of Adam died.

10 And all the days that Seth lived, were nine hundred and twelve years, and he died.

11 And Lamech was one hundred and eighty years old when he took Ashmua, the daughter of Elishaa the son of Enoch his uncle, and she conceived.

12 And at that time the sons of men sowed the ground, and a little food was produced, yet the sons of men did not turn from their evil ways, and they trespassed and rebelled against God.

13 And the wife of Lamech conceived and bare him a son at that time, at the revolution of the year.

14 And Methuselah called his name Noah, saying, The earth was in his days at rest and free from corruption, and Lamech his father called his name Menachem, saying, This one shall comfort us in our works and miserable toil in the earth, which God had cursed.

15 And the child grew up and was weaned, and he went in the ways of his father Methuselah, perfect and upright with God.

16 And all the sons of men departed from the ways of the Lord in those days as they multiplied upon the face of the earth with sons and daughters, and they taught one another their evil practices and they continued sinning against the Lord.

17 And every man made unto himself a god, and they robbed and plundered every man his neighbor as well as his relative, and they corrupted the earth, and the earth was filled with violence.

18 And their judges and rulers went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals.

19 And the Lord said, I will blot out man that I created from the face of the earth, yea from man to the birds of the air, together with cattle and beasts that are in the field for I repent that I made them.

20 And all men who walked in the ways of the Lord, died in those days, before the Lord brought the evil upon man which he had declared, for this was from the Lord, that they should not see the evil which the Lord spoke of concerning the sons of men.

21 And Noah found grace in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord chose him and his children to raise up seed from them upon the face of the whole earth.

Mitološka bića

Minotaur

Bizarni kosturi iskopani u Rusiji

Mitsko biće poput Satira i gigantski konj

Sumerian Information of the Annunaki

Compared to the Anakim

As we all know the Sumerians and Assyrians went to great detail to preserve the memorials of "270,000 years" or seven previous ages.

Anu’s father was Anshar (Sumerian god of the celestial world who was born of the serpents Lakhmu and Lakhamu), as the sky and male principle. Since Anshar mated with his sister Kishar (Anu’s mother, she became the earth and female principle), thus they produced the great gods. Anshar organized the gods in their fight against Tiamat but did no fighting himself.

Anu’s wife was Antu, and their children were the Annunaki.

Annunaki were seven judges of nether world, children of the god Anu, who also sat before the throne of Ereshkigal (the wife of Nergal), she was the daughter of Demeter, Greek Persephone, Roman Proserpine, Gnostic Kore in other mythology. The Annunaki are regarded by some as the Sumerian ‘fates,’ where they waited at the gates of nether world to judge the newly-arrived souls. The "Fates" were associated with Ursa Major, or the Pleiades (seven sisters) who were similar to the seven Hathors. Ananke the satellite of Jupiter that is 14th in distance from the planet [Greek Ananke, mother of Adrasteia (alias Nemesis a goddess of destiny, Egyptian Shait), distributor of rewards and punishments, by Jupiter, from ananke, necessity]. Adrasteia and Ida were Nymphs and daughters of the Cretan king, who cared for Zeus in a cave when he was a baby.

Even retain their names, being collectively known as "Great Ones," Annunaki.

The erudite Berossus (Chaldean priest of Bel at Babylon 250 B.C.) in his lost Babyloniaca apparently believed the Tower of Babel was built by Giants ages ago, and it also stated that a war arose between Cronus and Titan.

The Ziggurat of Anu (Lord of the Great Above) at Uruk (Erech) is crowned by a "white temple" of the Jamdat Nasr period, probably built shortly before 3000 B.C. They were designed to elevate the mind and heart to supernal contemplation and provide a scale of descent for the gods to come down to earth. Erech (Heb. ‘erekh) was a city of ancient Babylonia founded by Nimrod, the Babylonian form of the name is Uruk. The modern site is called Warka and is located near the Euphrates River, forty miles NW of Ur. Erech was the home of Gilgamesh, the hero of the great Akkadian epic. Archaeologists have found that this city was one of the oldest of Babylonia, founded before 4000 B.C. One of the earliest dynasties of the Sumerians ruled from Erech, it boasted the first ziggurat, or temple tower, and began the use of clay cylinder seals. The ziggurat at Ur is made on the outside of baked brick set in bitumen. The stele of Ur-Nammu is a contemporary record of the building of this ziggurat. The Tower of Babel was a ziggurat (Gen. 11:1-9).

Zaqaru, meaning to be high or raised up; hence the top of a mountain, or a staged tower.

Ur-Nammu the restored stele of Ur-Nammu from Ur, c. 2060-1955 B.C., shows the Ur-Nammu Law Code was produced by the founder of the third dynasty or Ur and builder of the best preserved ziggurat in Mesopotamia. He ruled from 2112 to 2095 B.C. Twenty-nine laws are extant, which leads to the Hammurabi Code in 1728 to 1686 with 282 laws after receiving them from the god Shamash. The ziggurat at Choga Zambil, southeast of Susa, was built c. 1280 B.C. in honor of the otherwise Elamite god In-Shushinak (Iskur, Addad, Haddad, Rimmon, Rammon, Adonis, Baal in the Bible).

The strongest body of archaeological evidence, combined with the biblical account, favors the ruins of Etemenanki (Sumerian name, "House of the Foundation of Heaven and Earth") as the likely spot for the Tower of Babel. This is located in the country of Iraq, in the city of Babylon, fifty miles south of today’s Baghdad. It was once believed to be Birs Nimrud in Borsippa or modern Es-sahen.

Ea, "House of the water," with his divine word was creator of mankind from clay with the help of the Sumerian goddess Aruru (see the Akkadian version of the Epic of Gilgamesh and the wild man Enkidu). Ea was also patron of all arts, and the chief god of the Mesopotamian city of Eridu. In ancient times the year began with the entrance of the Sun into the constellation of Aries, March 21, and ended in February, the name "Anno" (Medieval Latin : anno, in the year) was given in honor of Oannes, identified with Janus (Roman god of gates and doorways, depicted with two faces looking in opposite directions or past wisdom and future knowledge), who taught the Chaldeans science and the arts and warned them of the Flood. In Palestine Oannes was under the name Dagon.

Janus

Nanshe (symbol was a vase in which swam a fish) was the goddess of springs and waterways who was worshipped in Eridu and Lagash. It is interesting that the Greek Naiads are nymphs of river and springs.

Despite Anu’s indifference to men he had a fine temple at Uruk with an unusual twin towered ziggurat dating from 3000 B.C. As time went on Anu’s authority waned as the result of the success of the gods like Enlil. Anu as Enlil or Elil God of earth (nature) and wind (air and hurricanes, floods), child of An (heaven) and Ki (earth) whom he separated.

One of Anu’s sons was Gibil, alias Nusku (Nunska) who was an Assyrian fire god as in one of the four elements. Gibil was called governor of gods and men. His special task was to sit in judgment over the souls of men who in their lives had been unjust judges.

One of Anu’s daughters was Gulu the ancient name for the Earth Mother goddess, who was a consort of Ninurta (derived from Ningursu, was the son of Enlil and the god of war, who in Sumer and Akkad was the god of the constellation known as Orion). The name "Orion" is believed to have originated in the Euphrates area of ancient Akkad, and is derived from the Akkadian "Uru-Anna" (light of heaven). There is that connection to Anu again. Over time, the language corrupted to "Aryan," which is what the ancient Persians called themselves, and which became the modern idiom, "Iran."

In Hebrew the word for Orion is Kesiyl, kes-eel'; from Heb. kasal, kaw-sal', a primary root, properly to be fat, fig. silly, be foolish, but also any notable constellation, specially Orion (as if a burly one); other sources claim the Heb. Chesil, Kesil, as Orion means "A Strong One" or "A Hero," and is mentioned in Job 9:9 (Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south).

Ancient Arabs knew the constellation of Orion as Al Jauzah and later Al Jabbar (meaning "the giant" or "great"). Arab astronomer Al Babadur said the constellation was originally called the "Strong One," but another, Scaliger, affirmed the name was a corruption of the Arab "Al Shuja" (the Snake). In the early astronomical works of Bayer and Chilmead, that word was translated as "Asugia" -- the "madman." Under the star names of Hydra, the Sea Serpent: there is other information that refers to the name -- Minchir al Sugia which means "Tearing To Shreds of the Deceiver." Under the star names of Lepus is Nihal which is adapted from the Arabic for "the camels slaking their thirst." The name originally applied to the stars . Another meaning of Nihal is "The Mad."

Under the star names of Sagittarius is Nunki which is an untranslated ancient Babylon proper name. The Babylonians thought this star was the heavenly counterpart to their city Ridu, sacred to the god Ea (forms the handle of the teapot with Tau). In the Akkadian language, Sagittarius is called Nunki which means "The Prince of the Earth." The Sumerian King List mentions five cities existing before the Flood; Eridu, Bad-tibiria, Larak, Sippar, and Shuruppak. As you would suspect Ridu is the same as Eridu.

Ninurta in the Epic of Gilgamesh helps to flood the earth by throwing down the dykes and breaking dams. Here Gula helped breathe life into mankind. Ninurta and Gulu’s wedding feast was celebrated on New Year’s day.

Seen in the Kudurra (a Babylonian boundary stone) in the stage below ground sits the goddess Gulu, (the earth-goddess; also Ninmah, goddess of the underworld), where the cosmic serpent begins to rise. She is the patroness of herbs, healing, life, as her flowered garment shows. Hands lifted in prayer, she sits with her dog, defender of homes, while before her a Scorpion Archer mounts guard at the uttermost bound of the earth (cosmic sea), to defend against demonic powers and protect the rising and setting sun.

In the twentieth century Sir Leonard Wooley discovered at the mount of al’Ubaid near Ur and ancient temple dedicated by A-anni-pad-da, (king of Ur, son of Mes-anni-pad-da, who was the founder of the third dynasty after the Flood in the Sumerian lists of sovereigns) to the goddess Nin-Kharsag. The first of the divine kings was Dungi, the son of the goddess Ninsun.

Damkina or Damgalnunna; alias Ninka, goddess wife of Ea -- Sumerian god of sweet waters. As Ninlil wife of Enlil; as Ninki wife of Enki (Ea). The temple of Ninmah, goddess of the underworld, was built by Ashurbanipal near the Ishtar gate.

Below are the guardians of the four world quarters.

Nergal (arrow shooting god of II Kings 17:30) a Babylonian god and king of the Underworld "Lord of the great dwelling." When ejected from heaven he invaded the underworld with fourteen demons. His wife was Ereshkigal (possibly Gulu). During the great flood he tore away the mast of the ship in which Utanapishtim (the Babylonian Noah) escaped and was saved along with his family and specimens of all manner of animals. Nergal is also the god of plague with Namtar (evil god, negative aspect of fate, disease bringer), his symbols are a sword and a lion’s head. From the contract tablets found by Rassam at Tel-Ibrahim it appears that the ancient name of Cuthah was Gudua or Kuta. It’s ruins were 3,000 feet in circumference and 280 feet high. In it was a sanctuary dedicated to Ibrahim (Abraham). Both the city and its great temple, the later dedicated to Nergal, appear to date back to Sumerian times. Nergal (Heb. nereghal, a Babylonian deity of destruction and disaster, associated with the planet Mars (god of war and agriculture -- See also Hercules, Ares -son of Zeus, Zivis, Zio, Tiwas, Tiw).

A cylinder seal from Larsa, an ancient Sumerian city, c. 2360-2180 B.C., shows the god Nergal standing with one foot upon the body of an enemy. In his right hand is a weapon with wings or flames ready to strike its victim and in his left hand a weapon touching the ground which looks like a pruning hook or sickle. A picture of him will be seen in the next chapter.

Ninurta in Sumer and Akkad was god of war and the god of the constellation Orion. Orion was the son of Poseidon. The motif of sibling rivalries was of Sumerian Enki verses Enlil, equal to Greek Poseidon verses Zeus, or Roman Neptune verses Jove.

Irra is an aspect of Nergal, given the task of inflicting disease on mankind at the request of the gods.

Note: Imdugud a rain god worshipped in the area of the Ur of the Chaldees (west bank of the Euphrates). He was shaped like an eagle with a lion’s head, with wings which are like the clouds. In about 3000 B.C., Gudea a man who claimed that the god appeared to him in a dream and told him to build a temple at Lagash. Gudea did so. Sargon (2350 B.C.) claimed conquest of Elam in his day. Later on, about 2280, an Elamite king invaded Babylonia and took back much spoil. Gudea, a ruler of the city of Lagash, about 2100 mentions that the Elamites collected some of the timbers he used in constructing the temple of Ningirsu (Ningursu), the god of Lagash.

Also see Ningursu (with a reference to Ninurta) who was a god of irrigation and fecundity, born of a she-goat, and god of the Sumerian city-state of Lagash. He was as tall as the sky with a god’s head and beard, holding an eagle and a club with a net full of human captives, and hurricanes for feet. He was flanked by a pair of lions. He appeared to Gudea to build him a temple at Lagash.

A note here about Danu a (Irish) Celtic mother goddess of a brood of gods the Tuatha De Danann (Brian, Iuchar, and Iucharbar) also known as Anu or Ana - plenty. She is connected with Aine of Knockaine, a moon goddess of crops and cattle.

Giants before the Flood

Then the Elohim (Hebrew idiom of a plural of magnitude or majesty (Gen. 1:1), used of heathen gods, or of angels or judges as representatives of God, Elohim is plural in sense as well as form. It’s etymology, the most likely roots mean either "be strong," or "be in front," the power and preeminence of God; as to EL (Heb. ‘el, God) it is a generic word for God in the Semitic languages: Aramaic elah, Arabic ilah, Akkadian ilu. In the OT, el is used over two hundred times for God. El has a plural, elim, occasionally elhm in Ugaritic; but the Hebrews needed no plural, though a plural term, ‘elohim, was their regular name for God. The root from which ‘el was derived may have come from ‘wl, "to be strong"; from an Arabic root ‘ul, "to be infront of" as a leader from a Hebrew root ‘lh to which both ‘el and ‘elohim belonged, with the meaning "strong"; from the preposition el, "to be infront of"; and using the same prepositions, as putting forth the idea of God as the goal for which all men seek. A truly satisfactory theory is impossible, because ‘el and the other terms for God, ‘elohim and ‘eloha, are all prehistoric in origin.) make their return in Genesis 6:2, when the "sons of God" have intercourse with the "daughters of men," ..."and they took them wives of all which they chose." The results of this event beget Lamech (Heb. lemekh, meaning undetermined), father of Noah, based his faith on the promised deliverance from the Adamic curse of Gen. 3:14-19, he foresees, even if faintly, the coming of One of his seed (cf. 1 Chron. 1:3; Luke 3:36) who will remove that curse (cf. Rom. 8:18-25). Jared was Enochs' father, who through tradition dictated to his son about 5800 B.C. "The Lamentations of Jared" how Gods came to the earth and led astray his own tribe of Adam and those tribes of Cain also.

From Adam to Noah there were seven major Patriarchs born, Noah being the eighth person as shown in 2 Peter 2:5. Note that Cain and Abel are not counted for a total of ten, but Seth was the first.

Uta-Napishtim (Babylonian Noah) was the tenth King of Babylon before the Flood. The Sumerian King List mentions five cities existing before the Flood; Eridu, Bad-tinia, Larak, Sippar, and Shuruppak.

  • The first king was Alorus, who ruled for 120 sari, or 432,000 years before the Flood (note 162,000 years).
  • Abulim reigned for 28,800 years.
  • Abolga reigned 36,000 years.
  • Two more kings reigned for 64,800 years.

These represented the five cities. While in Eridu Kings from Heaven reigned for 64,800 years before the Flood.

  • If eight kings ruled for 241,200 years then the last five kings totaled 140,400 years.

Moreover, a Chaldean priest, Berossos, writing in Greek ca. 289 B.C., reported that according to Mesopotamian belief 432,000 years elapsed between the crowning of the first earthly king and the coming of the deluge.

The early Sumerian king list names eight kings with a total of 241,200 years from the time when "the kingship was lowered from heaven" to the time when "the Flood swept" over the land once more "the kingship was lowered from heaven" (Thorkild Jacobsen, The Sumerian King List, 1939, pp. 71, 77).

A Biblical analysis of the Masoretic text of the ages of the Patriarchs when their sons were born shows only 1,656 years passed from the Creation to Adam’s Fall until the Deluge and Shem’s fatherhood.

Genesis 6:4 "There were giants in the earth in those days..., when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men (Nephilim) which were of old, men of renown."

  • "Sons of God appears to refer to angels (Job 1:6, 2:1 "a day when they came before the Lord, and Satan was among them"):
  • Job 38:7 "When the morning stars sang together, and they all shouted for joy";
  • Psalms 89:6 "… who among them can be likened unto the Lord?"). Genesis 6:1-2 may likewise involve angels (in this case they are fallen ones) or they may be demon-possessed individuals, but others view these "sons of God" as kings/rulers/princes.

Author W. Raymond Drake states that in the Kabalistic Book of Enoch the Giants engendered by the Fallen Angels and daughters of men turned against mankind before the Flood.

Noah and the Giants (Anakim or Annunaki) after the Flood.

Noah's three sons may have brought with them wives, who were not pure descendants of Adam but those of the Anakim (Heb. ‘anaqim, sons of Anak, Heb. ‘anaq, long-necked) or possibly the Canaanites. Or else after Ham and Japheth eventually became the ancestors of the "goyim," where they combined with the Anakim who survived the Flood. The early Sumerian texts called them Anunaki, "those who came from heaven to earth." The Anakim as in Genesis 6:4 they are the sons of the sons of God, they are called the Nephilim (uncertain etymology) or giants (Heb. rapha, raphah, Heb. gibbor, mighty, Rephaim of Canaan ancestor of Og, king of Bashan, Emims of the Moabites, Zamzummims of Ammonites, Heb. murmurers, Zuzites (Zuzim) in Gen. 14:5) who were of old, men of renown. This crossbreeding may be the reason why the ancestors believe that sexual relations could affect one's health. One might even suspect that the Anakim were possibly the Greek Gods of mythology "fallen angels" the original Hebrew "B’nai Elohim" some who did not survive the Flood.

Some Talmudic commentaries stated that the Anakim were the sons of EnochEnoch (Heb. hanokh, consecrated, Gr. Henoch). Genesis and the Talmud both suggest that the Giants, who resented God for destroying their ancestors, meddled in the affairs of mankind.

Eventually Nimrod seen in Genesis 10:8-10 "And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one (first king) in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.Nimrod (Heb. nimrodh, assumed "rebel"), a descendent of Ham, was responsible for building the city of Babel (Babylon). This individual was the beginning of the kingdom in Babylonia, and he became the founder of Nineveh and other cities in Assyria. He became distinguished as a hunter, ruler, and builder. He lived for an undetermined amount of centuries after the Flood, and was the grandson of Ham. He was a bold man, and of great strength of hand. He persuaded men not to ascribe to God, in order to bring them into a constant dependence upon his own power. He swore to build a tower too high for the waters to be able to reach! Thus avenging himself on God for destroying their forefathers!

Many legends have grown up around the name of Nimrod, some claiming that he was identical with "Ninus," an early Babylonian king or god (king of Assyria, founder of Nineveh, known in history as Shamshi-Adad V of 811 B.C.). Again, some have associated Nimrod with the building of the Tower of Babel (Gen. 11:1-9). Others have identified him with the ancient king of Babylonia, Gilgamesh (Akkadian Epic of Gilgamesh, 5th king of the 1st Dynasty of Erech after the Flood), but there is no proof that the two were identical. The Talmud stresses that while Esau (Heb. ‘esaw, hairy) spent his days hunting and that an arrow from his bow killed the giant Nimrod (legends of "Ninus" or "Gilgamesh"). Did Nimrod finally die after all this time from Genesis 10 through 26?

Also attributed to him and his people were the building of Erech, Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. Asshur, son of Nimrod, built Nineveh, Rehaboth, Calah and Resen.

After the Flood in Sumer, Emmerkar, Lugalbanda (Lugulbanda) and Gilgamesh (estimated at 3,000 B.C.), were among the first kings of the city of Erech. The second, third, and fifth rulers of the First Dynasty of Erech, which followed the First Dynasty of Kish, which received the "kingship" from heaven immediately after the Flood. Some believe that this flood occurred in 4,000 B.C. and was a different one than compiled in the Genesis account. Lugalbanda was a god and shepherd king of Uruk (Erech) where he was worshipped for over a thousand years. Possibly the third king of Uruk after the great flood. Gilgamesh (Akkadian Epic of Gilgamesh, 5th king of the 1st Dynasty of Erech after the Flood) presented Lugulbanda with the horns of the Bull of Heaven.

Around 3200 B.C. Menes was consolidating Upper and Lower Egypt, Sumer was prospering, and then the Semitic peoples appeared on the scene with Sargon (2550-2400 B.C.) conquering Erech (Uruk), Ur, E-Ninmar, Lagash, to the mountains of Elam, Crete and uniting the area. Sargon, king of Agade, vice regent of the goddess Ishtar, king of Kish, pashishu (a class of priest who prepared and applied ointments) of the god Anu, King of the Land, great ishakku (chief priest) of the god Enlil.

  • Also called "sons [children] of Anak" (Heb. ‘anaq, long-necked) a descendant of Arba (Josh. 15:13) and ancestor of the Anakites (Anakim, Heb. ‘anaqim, Num. 13:22, 28, 33).
    • Arba (Heb. ‘arba) the father of Anak, and founder of the city Kiriath Arba of Hebron (Josh 14:15; 15:13). The spies compared them to the giants of Genesis 6:4 (RSV, NIV, Nephilim); and possibly the Rephaites (Deut. 2:11, RSV, NIV).
    • In Numbers 13:22 the spies sent by Moses into Negeb and to Mount Hebron, ran into
      • Ahiman (Heb. ‘ahiman, my brother is a gift),
      • Sheshai (Heb. sheshay)
      • and Talmai (Heb. talmay, the founder of this family, note see Arba), the descendants of Anak,
with the references to looking like grasshoppers compared to them and were eventually driven out by Caleb and killed.
  • Emites (Heb. ‘emim, Moabites called them "Terrors"; KJV, Emim) were the original inhabitants of Moab (Deut. 2:10-11, refer to Ar [Heb. ‘ar, a city or district in Moab]). A powerful advanced civilization who were also tall of stature, so that they were, like the Anakim, called giants. In Genesis 14:5, Abram’s time the Emites were defeated by the Mesopotamian invaders of Kedorlaomer (KJV Chedorlaomer was king of Elam) in Shaveh Kiriathaim (Heb. shaweh qiryathayim, the Plain of Kiriathaim, i.e., "twin cities"), a plain east of the Dead Sea (cf. Num 32:37).
  • Elam, (Sumerian inscriptions called it Numma, high mountain people, Elamtu in Akkadian text, Heb. ‘elam, shushan, Gr. Susiana, Susa) was south of Media and east of Babylonia, its name came from the Semites (Gen. 10:22) but was inhabited chiefly by Indo-Europeans; later it became part of Persia, modern Iran.
    • During this time Amraphel (Heb. ‘amraphel) was king of Shinar (Babylonia)
    • and Arioch (Eri-aku) was king of Ellasar (Heb. ellasar) in Syria, is the ancient Babylonian Larsa (with the last three letters transposed in Heb.), modern Senkereh, SE Babylon, between Erech and Ur.
  • Also a king named Tidal (Heb. tidh’al) was unidentified, mentioned only in Genesis 14:1, 9 where he is called "king of Goiim" ("nations," KJV) and is allied with three other kings, with Kedorlaomer king of Elam as the leader (14:5, 17). This was the group that Abram routed in a night raid to rescue Lot (14:15-16).
  • In Genesis 14:2, 8 these four kings made war with
    • Bera (Heb. bera’, gift) king of Sodom, Sodoma (Heb. sedhom, Gr. Sodoma),
    • Birsha king of Gommorrah (Heb. ‘amorah, Gr. Gomorra, submersion, located in the Vale of Siddim),
    • Shinab (Heb. shin’av) king of Admah (Heb. ‘adhmah, red earth, a Canaanite city),
    • Shemeber (Heb. shem’ever) king of Zeboiim (Heb. tsevo’im, gazelles, hyena),
    • and the king of Bela (Heb. bela’, destruction, belay, Belah) or Zoar (Heb. tso’ar, little, alone escaped the destruction by fire from heaven by a prayer from Lot, an ancient Canaanite city called Bela),
all near the Dead Sea, or Salt Sea (Valley of Siddom, Heb. ‘emeq hasiddim, the valley of the fields).
  • Goiim (goy’im) was also the area of an unnamed king defeated by Joshua (Josh. 12:23, "Goyim") Harosheth Haggoyim a town of "mixed races."
    • Heathen or Pagan (Heb. goy, pl. goyim, Gr. ethnos, people, nation). In Hebrew the plural ending is "-im" as a suffix it signifies nations, tribes, cities, or towns rather than individuals. [Abram + im].
    • Gentile (Heb. goy, plural goyim, nation, people), Goy means a non-Israelite, heathen or the pagan world.
In the NT, nations the Greek ethnos is equal to goy, while people is laos and is equal to the Hebrew ‘am. When God changed Jacob’s name to Israel (Heb. Yisra’el, he strives with God and prevails) the Hebrew word ‘am is the ordinary term for Israel, the people of God.
  • Rephaites, Rephaim (Heb. repha’im, mighty) a name of a giant people, called also Rephainer (Gen. 14:5; 15:20 "the dispossed" KJV), who lived in Canaan before the time of Abram. They were like the Anakim in Deut. 2:11, 20.
    • Og (Heb. ’ogh), Amorite king of Bashan, was a descendant of the Rephaites (Josh. 12:4; 13:12). Og, the last king of the race, was defeated and killed by the Israelites at Edrei in the time of Moses (Num 21:33-35; Deut 3:1-7). His sarcophagus of iron (black basaltic rock) was nearly fourteen feet long and six feet wide, which was said to be from Rabbath-Ammon (Ammonite), today Amman, capital of Jordan.
  • Zamzummite, Zamzummim (Heb. zamzummin, murmurers) found only in Deut. 2:20 and described as "a people strong and numerous, and ...tall" (Deut. 2:21). They were a race of giants, called Rephaim (2 Sam 5:18, 22), who lived in a spot east of the Jordan. They may be the same as the Zuzites (Zuzim) in Genesis 14:5.
  • Zuzim, Zuzites (Heb. zuzim) a primitive race of giants conquered by Kedorlaomer and his allies at Ham, an unknown place east of the Jordan; in the days of Abram (Genesis 14:5; Zuzites NIV; Zuzim JB, MLB, NASB, NEB, RSV; Zuzims KJV).

Remnants of the Anakim remained in Gaza, Gath, and Ashdod even in the time of Joshua (1500-1390 B.C.) as seen in Joshua 11:21 "And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.11:22 "There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained (remnants)."

Joshua's battle to annihilate them from the land set the future stage of events.
David was the second king of Judah and Israel between 1,010-962 B.C.,
he slew the Philistine giant Goliath (Heb. golyath, was from Gath), who was nine feet tall, possibly eleven depending on the length of a cubit, and probably was one of the Anakites. (Num. 13:33; Josh 11:22.)
The book of Samuel (2 Samuel 21:15-20.) also tells of other Rephaim. David and his men also killed three of them besides Goliath:

  • Benob (Ishbi-benob, Heb. yishbi venov) whose spear weighed three hundred shekels;
  • Saph (Heb. saph, a basin, threshold, a Philistine giant, of the race of Rapha,
  • "Sippai" in 1 Chron 20:4) who died in the battle of Gob;
  • and the brother of Goliath, the Gittite (of Gath), a phenomenal man whose name is not given "a giant with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot, twenty-four in all."

Small fragment has Goliath implications

Archaeologists excavating the ancient Philistine city of Gath have unearthed a ceramic fragment inscribed with two names possibly linked to Goliath, the first solid indication that the famous biblical confrontation with David has a historical context.
Aren Maier, of Israel's Bar-Ilan University, said the fragment bears the Indo-European names Alwt and Wlt written in ancient proto-Canaanite script, the forerunner of modern Hebrew and other Semitic scripts. Maier said scholars believe that Goliath is a derivative of such Indo-European names.
Maier said the fragment is the oldest known Philistine inscription found in Israel. Archaeologists date it to about 950 B.C., probably between 70 and 100 years after biblical chronology suggests David slew the Philistine giant with a stone from a slingshot.
While the fragment almost certainly has nothing to do with Goliath, Maier said it shows the Bible story has "cultural context" rooted in the ancient Middle East and is not necessarily a legend written down years after the event allegedly happened.

Legende o divovima

Legende Paiute Indijanaca pričaju o divu Zse’nahaha.

Nefili iz Knjige Postanka (6:4) se ne bi trebali brkati s „moćnim ljudima“ iz iste koji su nastali kao djeca ilegalnih brakova ili brakova pod prisilom između „Sinova Bogova“ (molim da se jako obrati pažnja na originalno Židovsko pisanje jer je u tom dijelu upotrebljena množina za BOGOVE) i čovječjih kćeri. U Bibliji se divovi spominju na mnogo mjesta;

Brojevi 13:33; „Sinovi Anaka“ rasa visoka stasa.

I tako dalje (korištena Biblija King Jamesa Revised Version – British and American).

Legende Paiute Indijanaca pričaju o divu Zse’nahaha.
